How did it begin? When Edoardo Bianchi started building bikes in his Milanese factory in 1886, aged 21. Orphaned as an infant, Bianchi begun work
aged eight in an iron works and eventually opened a two-room workshop of his own, producing all manner of items, from surgical instruments to electrical doorbells, before eventually moving on to
cars and motorcycles. Initially trading in penny farthings, Edoardo eventually concentrated on bicycles once he began to experiment with less unwieldy designs.
